Bombesin
Product Code: QA-BOM01 CAS Number: 31362-50-2 Sequence: (Glp)-QRLGNQWAVGHLM-NH2 Molecular Formula: C71H110N24O18S
Overview
Bombesin is a 14-amino acid peptide originally isolated from the skin of the European fire-bellied toad Bombina bombina. It belongs to the bombesin-like peptide family, with mammalian homologs including gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) and neuromedin B. Bombesin stimulates gastrin release from G cells and activates three G-protein-coupled receptors: BB1 (NMB-R), BB2 (GRP-R), and BB3 (BRS-3).
Key Features
- Native Bombesin sequence with pyroglutamyl N-terminus and amidated C-terminus
- Pyroglutamyl modification for biological activity
- Activates all three bombesin receptor subtypes
- Mammalian homologs: gastrin-releasing peptide, neuromedin B
