Bradykinin
Overview
Bradykinin is a 9-amino acid vasoactive peptide with the sequence Arg-Pro-Pro-Gly-Phe-Ser-Pro-Phe-Arg (RPPGFSPFR). It is a physiologically and pharmacologically active member of the kinin group of proteins that promotes inflammation, induces vasodilation, and increases vascular permeability. Bradykinin is generated through proteolytic cleavage of high-molecular-weight kininogen (HMWK) by the kinin-kallikrein system.
