C-Peptide
Overview
C-Peptide (connecting peptide) is a 31-amino-acid polypeptide that connects the A and B chains of insulin within the proinsulin molecule. First described in 1967 alongside the discovery of the insulin biosynthesis pathway, C-Peptide was initially studied as a marker of insulin secretion but has since been recognized as a bioactive peptide with significant physiological effects on microvascular blood flow and tissue health.
