Cathepsin G
Overview
Cathepsin G is a serine protease of the chymotrypsin family encoded by the CTSG gene. Stored in azurophil granules of neutrophils, it is a member of the peptidase S1 protein family. Cathepsin G plays critical roles in tissue remodeling during injury and wound healing, coagulation through inactivation of clotting factors, and innate immune defense against bacteria including E. coli, P. aeruginosa, and S. aureus.
