Conopressin

Overview

Conopressin is a nonapeptide belonging to the vasopressin-like peptide family, originally isolated from mollusk ganglia in 1975. It shares high sequence homology with the mammalian hormone oxytocin (OT) and is expressed primarily in the central nervous system, where it functions as a neurotransmitter in mollusks. Several structural analogs have been identified, including conopressin-G, conopressin-T, and conopressin-S.
