Dynorphin

Overview

Dynorphins are a class of endogenous opioid peptides derived from the precursor protein prodynorphin. The family includes Dynorphin A, Dynorphin B, and Big Dynorphin, all characterized by a high proportion of basic amino acid residues—particularly lysine and arginine—along with numerous hydrophobic residues. Dynorphins function as neuropeptides involved in pain modulation, addiction, and mood regulation through binding to the kappa opioid receptor (KOP).
