Fibrinopeptide
Overview
Fibrinopeptides A (FpA) and B (FpB) are peptides cleaved from fibrinogen by the enzyme thrombin during the conversion of fibrinogen into covalently linked fibrin monomers. FpA is a 16-amino-acid peptide cleaved from the Aα chains, while FpB is cleaved from the Bβ chains. These peptides serve as sensitive markers of fibrinogenesis, thrombin activity, and coagulation activation.
