Growth Hormone Releasing Peptides (GHRP)

Overview

Growth hormone-releasing peptides (GHRPs) are synthetic peptides that potently stimulate somatotrope secretion of growth hormone (GH) from the anterior pituitary. Structurally unrelated to GHRH, these peptides act through the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a) as growth hormone secretagogues. GHRP-2 (Pralmorelin) is used as a diagnostic agent for GH deficiency, while GHRP-6 is a synthetic Met-enkephalin analog incorporating unnatural D-amino acids that stimulates GH release without opioid activity.
