Helodermin Peptides

Overview

Helodermin is a bioactive peptide isolated from the salivary gland venom of the Gila monster (Heloderma suspectum). This basic pentatriacontapeptide amide (35 amino acids) shares high sequence homology with vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), peptide histidine isoleucine (PHI), secretin, and growth hormone-releasing factor (GRF) across its N-terminal 1–27 region, classifying it within the secretin/VIP superfamily of peptides.
