Kyotorphin

Overview

Kyotorphin is a neuroactive dipeptide (Tyr-Arg) originally isolated from bovine brain with potent analgesic activity. Unlike classical opioids, kyotorphin does not bind directly to opioid receptors but instead promotes the release of endogenous Met-enkephalin and protects it from enzymatic degradation, providing a unique mechanism for pain modulation research.
