Leucokinin

Overview

Leucokinins (LKs) are a family of neuropeptides found in insects and invertebrates that function as intercellular signaling molecules mediating diverse behavioral and physiological processes. Originally identified as diuretic peptides, leucokinins increase intracellular Ca²⁺ levels in Malpighian tubules to stimulate fluid secretion, making them essential tools for insect physiology and pest control research.
