LHRH (Luteinizing Hormone-Releasing Hormone)

Overview

Luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH), also known as gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), is a hypothalamic decapeptide that serves as the master regulator of mammalian reproduction. It stimulates the anterior pituitary to secrete luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which in turn control gonadal steroidogenesis and gametogenesis. LHRH is also recognized as a neurotransmitter and neuromodulator.
