Neurokinin Peptides

Overview

Neurokinins are a class of tachykinin peptide neurotransmitters broadly distributed in the central nervous system. The family includes Substance P (SP), Neurokinin A (NKA, also known as Substance K), and Neurokinin B (NKB), each binding with distinct affinity to three G-protein-coupled receptors: NK₁, NK₂, and NK₃. These neuropeptides regulate pain transmission, smooth muscle contraction, inflammation, and neuroendocrine function.
